About this race

The Trail des Monts de Vaucluse is a trail-running event in Saumane-de-Vaucluse, taking place the first weekend of November. Participants begin at the Château de Sade Saumane, proceeding onto paths and single tracks within the Monts de Vaucluse. The primary options are the Sommet des Ânes, a 24 km trail featuring 1,400 m of elevation gain, and the Trace du Goupil, a shorter nature run of approximately 12 to 13 km with 400 m of elevation gain. A children's race, La Barule des pitchouns, is also offered, covering about 800 m for ages 6-9 and roughly 1,200 m for ages 10-12. The 24 km route presents a challenge with frequent ascents and descents, narrow paths, viewpoints along cliff edges, difficult downhill stretches, and varied terrain. Participants on this course are required to carry water, a survival blanket, trail shoes, a phone, an eco-cup, and a whistle; poles are permitted if folded at the start. The Trace du Goupil suits both novice trail runners and experienced individuals seeking a quick, energetic course, offering views back towards Saumane-de-Vaucluse. The children's course remains near the château, winding through its grounds, past bories, and among pine trees.
