Trail des Mouflons is a winter trail race held in Cherveix-Cubas, a village in Dordogne within the Périgord region of southwest France. The current schedule offers runners three primary options: the Grand Mouflon at approximately 43.5 km with 1,150 m of elevation gain, a 24 km race with 550 m of climbing, and a 12 km race with 250 m of climbing. A 10 km Nordic walk is also available, extending the day's activities beyond trail running.
The longer courses traverse the rugged terrain surrounding Cherveix-Cubas. Older course details indicate the main race passed through the Auvézère gorges, with about 90% of the long route on trails. The mid-distance course has featured the ascent to Rocher du Diable, and the shorter race was introduced to increase accessibility for less experienced participants. The race has been held since 1981, is organized by the local Cherveix-Cubas club, and maintains a modest scale, with previous editions limited to around 300 participants, attracting both runners and walkers. A post-race snack for everyone is a customary part of the local atmosphere.
