About this race
The Trail Des Neiges - Saint Regis Du Coin begins in the village square of Saint-Régis-du-Coin, a small commune in the Loire department, approximately 20 minutes from Saint-Étienne, 30 minutes from Annonay, and 50 minutes from Lyon. This winter trail race takes place in the upper Pilat region, offering 9 km and 14 km options for runners, alongside parallel cani-trail races for participants with dogs. The shorter course includes 250 m of elevation gain, while the longer course features 450 m, presenting a compact yet hilly mountain running challenge rather than a flat snow jog.
The courses traverse a mix of tracks, natural paths, and maintained sections within the Pilat Natural Park, with potential views toward the Alps depending on weather conditions. The route highlights local points of interest such as Gimel and its peat bog, the ponds at Prélager, and historic ice houses. The event maintains small numbers, with around 240 participants, and concludes with refreshments and homemade hot soup. Cani-trail runners have dedicated races, and the organizer notes this as the sole cani-trail event in the Loire. By tradition, all proceeds benefit the charity Les enfants avant tout, underscoring the privilege of freely participating in sport.
