Trail des Verts is a trail-running weekend in Fontcouverte, Charente-Maritime, with most races taking place in local forests and nearby countryside. The program offers adults four race options, three children’s races under the Trail des P’tits Verts name, and a 10 km walk for those who prefer the woods without competition. Held in late March, it is an off-road event: over 80% of the routes follow forest paths, featuring challenging terrain instead of easy road running.
The courses include Roman remains and sections of the GR4 long-distance trail, and have been adjusted as the event has expanded. A recent edition attracted 1,200 adult runners, over 200 walkers, 130 children, nearly 2,000 spectators, and more than 80 volunteers, giving it the feel of a local trail festival. The 24 km race attracts competitive runners, with podiums featuring athletes like Lucie Saury and Evann Chiron. Participant feedback highlights well-organized routes and volunteers who ensure the event runs smoothly.
