About this race

The Trail du Chambon is a November trail-running weekend held at the Chambon outdoor center in Eymouthiers, Charente, France. It provides trail races and walks ranging from approximately 11 km to 50 km, catering to families, walkers, novice trail runners, and those seeking a challenging technical race. The shorter distances are 11 km and 12 km, while the main trail distances are 17 km, 34 km, and 50 km. An 11 km night trail is also offered, presenting a different challenge without requiring participation in the longest course. The routes traverse natural terrain and forests surrounding the Chambon site, featuring steeper ascents and technical descents in the more demanding races. The 17 km route includes about 321 m of elevation gain, the 34 km route approximately 525 m, and some longer versions have previously held FFA regional labels for courses around 36 km and 53 km. The race location is within a Natura 2000 zone and a sensitive natural area, requesting participants and spectators to minimize their environmental footprint. The Charente department, the Chambon sport-and-nature public center, the departmental athletics committee, and AJM Athlétisme have organized the event since 2019. The weekend also includes practical amenities: on-site accommodation, a Saturday pasta meal, Sunday lunch, a finisher medal for the long trail, and a participant limit of around 1,100.
