About this race
Trail du Ferrouillet is a September mountain semi-trail in Laval-en-Belledonne, Isere. The race covers 21 km with 1,500 m of elevation gain, making it more akin to a demanding mountain hike than a quick city half marathon. Now in its second edition, the organizers aim for a simple, authentic event that respects the local environment and its inhabitants.
The course begins with a significant ascent to Lac de Crop, then continues to the Breche de Roche Fendue at 2,480 m, the race's highest point. From there, it crosses a balcony trail offering expansive Belledonne vistas before descending past Habert d'Aiguebelle towards the finish. The route's profile is straightforward: one major climb, a brief descent, sections of false-flat terrain, and a long downhill. Participants are required to carry a minimum of 1 litre of fluid, a windbreaker, and a charged mobile phone, with additional gear recommended based on weather conditions or anticipated race duration.
