Trail du Granit begins in Bécon-les-Granits, a small commune west of Angers in Maine-et-Loire. This popular trail-running event features races on local paths and tracks surrounding the village, avoiding city streets. The primary race covers 30 kilometers, offering a substantial long-distance choice for participants seeking a run beyond a brief local trail.
The event is organized by the association Élosia, founded in memory of Élodie, who passed away from cancer and wished to support sick children. All proceeds benefit charities, with over €50,000 contributed prior to a recent edition. The principal recipient is Afelt, an organization assisting friends and families of children with leukemia or tumors, making the day a significant fundraiser as well as a running competition.
