About this race
Trail du Mâconnais is a trail-running event in Mâcon, France, organized by Mille Pattes Mâcon and typically held in autumn. It provides several off-road distances, with shorter options for less experienced trail runners and longer routes for those seeking a more challenging, hilly course. Recent formats have featured courses of approximately 10 km, 16 km, and 28 km, with elevation gains from around 250 metres to over 1,000 metres, varying by distance. The 10 km option is also available as a duo, offering a team element alongside the standard solo races.
The routes are set within the Solutré-Pouilly-Vergisson area, west of Mâcon, utilizing the natural landscape and the well-known limestone formations above the vineyards. The event originated from Mille Pattes Mâcon's transition from road racing to nature events, beginning with a 15 km course and a mixed-team relay. Later, discovery and expert trail formats were introduced before the adoption of the Trail du Mâconnais name. Participation is primarily local and regional, attracting a few hundred runners, with visiting clubs like Mulhouse contributing to the field.
