The Trail du Mont Dardon begins in Vendenesse-sur-Arroux, Saône-et-Loire, with participants departing from the Arroux valley towards Mont Dardon. This April event in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, near Gueugnon, offers courses suitable for runners and hikers, not exclusively for elite athletes. Individuals can compete solo or in teams, and children are welcome, contributing to its community-focused, approachable character. The event adopted its current name, replacing the former “Courir entre Arroux et Dardon,” after its initial runs.
The primary distances are La Pêcherette (12 km), Petit Dardon (18 km), and Grand Dardon (29 km). The longest route includes 850 metres of elevation gain and is recognized with a UTMB Index. The terrain varies significantly, featuring meadows, farm tracks, woodland paths, rocky segments, stream crossings, and steep descents. The course winds through pastures, farmland, pine and oak woods, thickets, small villages, and scenic overlooks offering views of the region. Les Trailloux du Club Allure Libre Gueugnon are the organizers, with the event headquarters located in the Vendenesse park.
