About this race

The Trail du Mont Grêle begins in Saint-Béron, Savoie, France, leading participants into the pre-Alpine landscape surrounding the Chaîne de l'Épine. This March trail race offers three distances: Les Roches, 12 km with 700 m elevation gain; L'Archèle, 23 km with 1,400 m gain; and Les 3 Pylônes, 40 km with 2,100 m gain. Even the shortest course requires significant climbing ability, making it a demanding run. The courses traverse forested slopes, ridges, and valleys beneath Mont Grêle, which reaches 1,425 m. Participants will also see views of Lac d'Aiguebelette, a notable lake in this region of Savoie. The event caters to both recreational trail runners and those seeking substantial elevation challenges, with the 40 km course designed for runners desiring a lengthy, strenuous mountain run. Following the race, many attendees sample regional Savoyard cuisine, including diots, beaufort, and local white wine, or visit nearby lakes for swimming, walking, or paddleboarding.
