About this race
The Trail du Moulin is a spring trail race held at the restored Moulin de l'Epinay in La Chapelle-Saint-Florent, part of Mauges-sur-Loire in Maine-et-Loire. It features three distances: a 10 km race, a 23 km race, and the 1.5 km Parcours Seraphin for children over six accompanied by an adult. The short children's route is designed with minimal elevation gain, allowing families to experience trail running without the challenge of a steep mountain course.
The longer routes traverse the Mauges countryside, passing through the Marches de Courosse and the vicinity of the climb up the Epinay hillside. The race is organized by Un village, un Moulin, the association responsible for heritage activities at the mill, which include guided tours of the tower and its mechanisms over two centuries old. This provides the event with a local character: participants are drawn by the trails, while the location also attracts families and visitors interested in the historic mill and the surrounding low hills.
