Trail du Platane begins at Place du Platane in Aubas, a small Dordogne village in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, held in early July. It offers several trail-running distances, ranging from short routes of about 7-8 km to longer options of 20, 21, or 30 km according to the program. A walking route is also available for those who prefer to enjoy the countryside without the competitive aspect. The longer trail involves more than just farm lanes; the 20 km route includes approximately 600 m of elevation gain, and the 11 km route has about 240 m of ascent.
The courses are set in the Dordogne valley, near the Lascaux caves, with named routes including Trail des villages, Boucle des 5 chemins, and Chemin des moutons. Participants can also opt for canitrail and canicross, integrating dogs into the event. The first 250 registered runners receive a T-shirt, and 2 euros from each entry fee are donated to the SPA animal protection society. On race day, bib pickup is at the Salle des Fêtes in Aubas, where facilities include showers, changing rooms, toilets, parking, a refreshment stand, and food provided by the Les 2 Pattes du Périgord truck.
