Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB® 2026

The Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB is a trail-running series held in Saugues, following the GR65 pilgrimage route toward Santiago de Compostela. Taking place in June, it features distances ranging from 12 km to 139 km, covering short trail races, long mountain runs, and a full ultra. The Ultra du Saint Jacques covers 139 km with 6,000 m of elevation gain, and the Grand Trail du Saint Jacques is 86 km. This route format has been used for the event since 2012. The course traces the Le Puy-en-Velay to Saugues section of the historic pilgrim path. This is a trail race with stones, roots, and uneven terrain typical of an old footpath, not a manicured road course. Millions have walked this route since the Middle Ages on their pilgrimage, and this history is integral to the race. Participants include short-distance runners, ultra runners, and charity runners, all using a path established as a medieval road, not a modern race circuit.
