The Trail du Sanglier begins at the motocross track in St-Igny-de-Vers, a Haut Beaujolais village, sending participants directly into forest trails in late March. This nature trail race offers four distances: 10 km with 327 m elevation gain, 14 km with 541 m, 28 km with approximately 1,200 m, and 40 km with about 1,800 m. The shorter distances are suited for those seeking meadows, woods, and moderate climbs, while the longer routes present true mountain-style challenges on technical paths.
The 28 km and 40 km courses both traverse Mont Saint-Rigaud. The 40 km route additionally goes by Roche d'Ajoux and has a participant limit of 400. Both longer races are described as roughly 90% technical trail and feature four aid stations, emphasizing navigation of the rugged Beaujolais terrain over achieving fast times. The event is a component of the Trail Tour Beaujolais challenge, following an earlier edition that attracted approximately 1,000 participants.
