Trail du St Joseph is a forest trail race held in early April in Sarras, located in the Ardèche department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. Participants can choose from three main one-loop routes: 7 km, 15 km, and 25 km. The 7 km route involves a 250-meter climb, the 15 km route a 550-meter climb, and the 25 km route reaches 900 meters of elevation gain. These distances ensure that even the shorter options provide genuine trail running challenges, distinct from flat park circuits.
The routes traverse forest and natural landscapes surrounding Sarras, with the 15 km course being the most frequently chosen. In a past edition, both the 7 km and 15 km races attracted over 100 participants. The event also offers forest courses for children and juniors, catering to a range of young age groups. This race is part of a larger French initiative that aims to connect runners with local landscapes and heritage through races suited to various abilities.
