About this race
The Trail du Vieux Semur is a January trail-running event held in Semur-en-Auxois, a medieval town in Côte-d'Or, the historic capital of Auxois in Burgundy. The event features three races: the 10 km Trail des Remparts and a 25 km Trail du Vieux Semur XL, which includes approximately 625 metres of elevation gain. Pédale Semuroise organizes the event, providing aid stations and changing rooms.
The 10 km course runs through and around the old town, ascends Mont Télégraphe, passes la Marie Dupin, and concludes within the streets of Semur. The longer trail follows local paths surrounding Semur, presenting a challenge through numerous short, steep ascents rather than a single large mountain. Recent adjustments to the route replaced a former railway line section with the Mont Télégraphe climb, then directed runners down near the old quarry and through the old Semur gardens encircling the medieval city.
