Trail Givré is a winter trail race held in Montanay, located approximately 20 km north of Lyon in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It takes place at the beginning of the year, typically in late January or February, and has been part of the race calendar since 2000. Participants can select between La Montanoise, a 9.5 km route with around 120 m of elevation gain, and the Trail Givré, measuring about 25.1 km with 530 m of climbing. The event holds an FFA Argent label and is an ITRA member race, earning one ITRA point and mountain level 2 classification.
The courses traverse the Franc Lyonnais countryside, featuring farm-plateau tracks, wooded valley paths, forest sections, single-track trails, fields, and a path through the classified Echets stream site. On open stretches, runners can view the Val de Saône and the Monts d'Or, with the Alps visible in the distance. The race attracts a substantial local field as well as accomplished French trail runners, offering discounts for FFA participants and groups. The name reflects the conditions: cold weather is a key aspect, and rain can quickly make the course muddy.
