The Trail Givré - Montanay is a winter trail race held in Montanay, located approximately 20 km north of Lyon, traditionally taking place in February. It features a shorter Montanoise course, around 9.5 to 9.6 km with 132 m of elevation gain, and a longer Trail Givré course, approximately 25 to 26 km with 550 m of elevation gain. Participants can select between a discovery-oriented trail and a more challenging short trail. This event is an ITRA member race, earning one ITRA point and a Level 2 mountain rating. It has maintained an Argent label for 15 consecutive editions.
The courses traverse the Franc Lyonnais countryside, combining paths across an agricultural plateau with trails through forested valleys. Runners will encounter the protected Echets stream site and gain vistas overlooking the Val de Saône and the Monts d'Or. The race is a long-standing popular event at the beginning of the French trail running season, attracting a substantial number of participants, including strong French trail runners. FFA runners and groups are eligible for entry discounts, and the early start times ensure the two races remain concurrent on the same winter race day.
