About this race
The Trail Frison Roche is a summer mountain trail running event held in Beaufort, Savoie. Organized by the Ski Club of Arêches-Beaufort, it receives support from the local tourist office and municipality. This event takes place in the Beaufortain region, an area also known for Beaufort cheese. It features multiple race distances, including children's races, a 7 km Mini Frison, a 17 km Petite Frison, and the main 42 km Frison Roche, which includes approximately 2,900 metres of elevation gain. The shorter races occur on Saturday, with the 7 km option available as either a walk or a race. Sunday is dedicated to the 17 km and 42 km mountain races.
The 42 km course crosses the ridges of Roche Parstire, overlooking the Arêches and Roselend valleys. Participants will spend a significant portion of the day in high-altitude, open mountain environments. The route offers vistas of Mont Blanc, Roc du Vent, Pierra Menta, the Beaufortain mountains, and Lake Saint Guérin, where a waterfall cascades into the lake from the Poncellamont gorges. A notable feature of the course is the Himalayan footbridge spanning these gorges. Runners will also pass through forests and traditional villages like Arêches, a ski resort in winter. This race has been a fixture in the Savoyard trail running community for over twenty years, attracting both local participants and experienced trail runners seeking a challenging Alpine experience with its variety of family-friendly distances and a demanding 42 km mountain course.
