Trail Nocturne du Haut Bugey is a mid-December night trail race on the Plateau d'Hauteville in Ain, in France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Runners choose between two loop courses: a 7 km trail with about 220 metres of climbing and descent, or a 14 km trail with about 500 metres up and 500 metres down. The race leans into its winter timing, with a nocturnal, snowy, Christmas-season theme. The 14 km route is the more popular option, giving runners a short but fairly punchy night outing rather than an all-day mountain race. The 7 km course offers the same basic feel in a lighter version, with enough elevation to feel like trail running without demanding the longer distance.
