About this race
La Romeufontaine is a winter snow-trail series held in Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via, located high in the Pyrénées-Orientales of southern France. The races begin in Font-Romeu and take place entirely above 1,750 metres, with at least 80% of the routes covered in snow. Distances vary from a 5 km night run suitable for beginners to mountain trails up to approximately 40 km, accommodating both novice snow runners and experienced trail athletes.
The shorter distances feature a 5 km night trail with 150 metres of elevation gain, a 12 km discovery route covering 400 metres, and a 21 km route with 700 metres. The more challenging courses include steep ascents and technical descents, with routes around 25-30 km offering close to or over 1,000 metres of ascent. Font-Romeu has a strong trail-running heritage; Kilian Jornet grew up in the area, and it influenced his passion for snowy mountains. The event is recognized in France as a benchmark for snow trail racing, providing aid stations and changing facilities.
