The Trail Urbain de Bassens begins at Espace Garonne in Bassens, a town in Gironde near Bordeaux’s river country. Held in early March, it offers short urban trail options around 9 to 10 km, a longer 18 km race, and Nordic walking routes on local terrain at a walking pace. The CMO Bassens athletics section organizes the event. Recent fields have been small, with just over 100 participants, giving it the feel of a local race night rather than a large city event.
The short trail and the 10 km Nordic walk follow a path through three wooded parks. The 18 km race is a single loop around Bassens, featuring approximately 320 metres of elevation gain. This longer course combines parks, town streets, and vineyards, offering more variety than a flat road race. The program also includes a timed Nordic walk in semi-darkness, musical entertainment, individual aid stations during the race, and a charity partnership with Pour un second souffle, with a portion of proceeds supporting the fight against cystic fibrosis.
