About this race

TransMaurienne Vanoise is a week of mountain biking in France’s Savoie region, based around Haute Maurienne Vanoise and locations like Champagny-en-Vanoise, Val Cenis, and Aussois. It is designed for riders seeking genuine mountain terrain, not a road event, with formats from short routes of 21, 28, 36, and 56 km to multi-day competitions and ultra options. The event spans seven days of VTT, the French term for mountain biking, catering to serious racers and those wanting a supported mountain ride. The routes traverse Alpine trails and high-country landmarks such as Mont Cenis, Fort de l’Esseillon, and the hamlet of l’Ecot, with lakes and ponds on some sections. The main race is the Parcours des 9000, noted for its 9,000 meters of climbing over five days, while the Ultra VTT requires riders to complete 270 km within a time limit in semi-autonomy. There are five entry categories: Competition, Ultra, Randonnée, Kids, and Festival. The series, over 30 years old, now features routes deeper in Haute Maurienne Vanoise that are more playful yet still technical.
