About this race
The Ultra Trail des Montagnes du Jura 175 km Relais is the team option for the Jura Mountains ultra, where participants divide a 175 km trail route among themselves rather than one runner completing the entire distance. The broader UTMJ race week takes place in early October in the Jura Mountains, offering events from 10 km to the full 175 km ultra. The relay is positioned at the end of the schedule, allowing participation without the commitment of a solo ultra.
The 175 km route begins in Lancrans and follows extensive mountain trails across the Jura Massif, with the course crossing three French departments and two countries. Over 3,000 runners participate in the UTMJ, supported by approximately 700 volunteers and local authorities, which is significant for a point-to-point mountain event featuring multiple race formats. The race was established to promote trail running in the Jura region, and its character is closely linked to the local terrain, villages, and the massif's cross-border nature.
