The Urban Trail d'Amplepuis is a winter trail race held in Amplepuis, located in the Rhône department of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. Organized by the Handball Amplepuis Club, it takes place in mid-December. Participants can choose from short trail distances of 6 km, 12 km, and 24 km, alongside a solidarity walk. This event is a local race, distinct from large city road races, where runners navigate through streets, natural paths, and the surrounding forests.
The race routes present a progressive increase in elevation: the 6 km course includes approximately 75 meters of ascent, the 12 km course features about 150 meters, and the 24 km course has around 300 meters. The race facilities include aid stations and changing rooms. The event unites trail runners and walkers; a recent edition saw over 650 participants and 120 volunteers. The event also supports a cause, with an 8 km walk for Heloise and a portion of the entry fees donated to Telethon.
