Val Tho Fitness Racing is a pairs fitness race held in Val Thorens, located high in the Savoie department of the French Alps. It takes place in early April at an altitude of 2,300 meters, within Europe’s highest sports center. The altitude is an integral part of the challenge. The format is straightforward: run, complete a strength station, run again, and repeat. Teams compete in men’s, women’s, or mixed duos.
The workout stations incorporate functional fitness movements like SkiErg, rowing, sled work, and burpees, requiring both strength and running fitness. This is not a road race with a steady pace leading to a finish-line sprint; instead, the effort is divided into repeated shocks to the legs, lungs, and grip. The event is new, with its first edition featuring a mountain setting, a live DJ, giant screens, and a bar for spectators and athletes.
