Verticale des remparts - Saint Joseph 2027

The Verticale des Remparts is a steep trail race in Saint-Joseph, featuring short distances with significant climbing. One option covers 13 km with 1,300 m of ascent, another is 18 km with 1,400 m of ascent, and an 11 km choice is also available. Some editions begin at 21:00, meaning runners face the climb in darkness instead of daytime heat. Saint Jo Trail Team established the first edition. The race maintains a straightforward, local approach: demanding uphill running, reasonable entry fees, and distances that seem manageable until the elevation gain is considered. The name reflects the course, with “Verticale” indicating the primary challenge and “Remparts” referencing the steep slopes and ridges surrounding Saint-Joseph.
