Vertrail by Night is a trail run held in November in the Porchefontaine forest, located in Versailles, west of Paris. Participants can select between an 8 km or 17 km course. The 17 km option is available for solo runners or as a relay. The race begins in the early evening, meaning headlamps and forest paths are essential elements, not an added feature.
The 8 km course includes approximately 220 m of elevation gain, while the 17 km route offers about 440 m. This is not simply a flat run in the dark. The event attracts over 800 participants, with recent figures suggesting more than 900. It is organized by students from the sports or triathlon section of Lycée Marie Curie in Versailles. The race supports the Téléthon, with one euro from each entry fee and funds from an online collection donated to the charity.
