The VeyziaTrail begins at the football stadium in Veyziat, located in France's eastern Ain department. The Haut Bugey hills are situated between the Ain valley and the Jura Mountains. This event, held annually near the end of March, centers on nature with running distances of 5 km, 11 km, 22 km, and 31 km, alongside hiking options of 5 km and 10 km. The organization accommodates both dedicated trail runners and families seeking outdoor activity.
The longer courses traverse forest paths and natural terrain surrounding lakes, ponds, and the Samognat lake region. The 22 km and 31 km routes include circuits around the lake. The 31 km race involves an ascent of approximately 800 meters, and both the 22 km and 31 km races contribute to the UTMB Index 20K. A treasure hunt is provided for children, and walkers follow distinct paths. Volunteers manage course marking, aid stations, road crossings, the bar, and the barbecue, fostering a local club atmosphere distinct from a large urban race.
