D-Day 44 Challenge
Friday, March 5, 2027 · London SW1W 9TP, United Kingdom
About this race
The D-Day 44 Challenge is a charity endurance event in Normandy, France, held around the D-Day anniversary each June. The full route is a 44-mile ultra-run from Pointe du Hoc to Pegasus Bridge. Shorter options include a 22-mile run or 22-mile walk from Arromanches to the same finish. It supports Combat Stress. Civilian entrants select a distance and a fundraising option, with a target linked to the D-Day year.
The long course begins at Pointe du Hoc, the cliff-top promontory attacked by U.S. Rangers during the landings, then follows the Normandy coast past the cliffs above Omaha Beach. Participants move through corn, wheat, and barley fields, sand dunes, marshland, pebble beaches, forgotten paths, and rocky stretches. The event includes a pasta party, sightseeing day, transport from London, accommodation, meals, medical cover, and event support. The first week of June also brings WWII vehicles, people in period uniforms, and veterans wearing medals and sharing stories, so the challenge feels tied to the history underfoot rather than just the mileage.
