About this race
The Dartmoor in a Day Ultra runs from Okehampton to Ivybridge, offering a challenging, primarily off-road traverse of Dartmoor. It focuses on "wild areas of open moor" instead of manicured parkland paths. The route includes the East Okement valley, Hangingstone Hill, the East Dart valley, Bellever Tor, and the West Dart stepping stones, providing a genuine moorland experience where navigation and weather are significant factors.
Expect rugged terrain, exposed sections, prominent tors, and river crossings. Qualified Mountain Leaders will act as mobile marshals between checkpoints. Refreshment stops at Postbridge and Combestone Tor precede the final leg over Ryder's Hill, the upper Avon, Dartmoor Volcano, and feature "views along the Erme valley out to sea" before reaching Ivybridge Community College. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. All finishers receive food, drink, and a memento.
