About this race
Clarks Farm serves as the start for Dig Deep Trail. The route departs from the farm shop and fields, heading towards the Peak District for a run with a distinct fell-race character. It is suitable for a first trail race if adequately prepared, yet possesses sufficient challenge for experienced ultra runners. This is particularly true given the course is "mostly marked but navigation/a good knowledge of the area may be necessary" under adverse weather conditions.
Checkpoints are provided, not extensive support. Burbage North Carpark is an early stop offering provisions, and Castleton serves as the drop-bag location for those undertaking the longer distances. The terrain and equipment mandates suggest a day in the hills rather than a road race with added mud. Camping at Clarks Farm on Friday and Saturday provides a practical pre-race base, and "Warm food and drink at the race finish" is precisely what one desires after a demanding run.
