About this race
Fordh Sen Mighal is an 11-mile point-to-point trail race in Cornwall, starting at Lelant railway station and finishing in Marazion. It follows Britain's only pilgrimage route officially part of a European Cultural Route, giving the race a connection to an old walking line rather than just a marked running course. Runners have five hours to finish. Registration is at St Uny's Church in Lelant before the morning start. The start area has no parking; runners typically arrange transport using the finish parking, car sharing, or the bus stop a short walk away.
The route takes runners across road, sand, trails, mud, and pebbles, with over 1500ft of climbing within the distance. It passes Trencrom and Ludgvan before reaching Marazion, with Cornish hills contributing significantly to the effort. The race is a fixture on the Cornish running calendar, attracting repeat participants, including local club runners from groups such as Hayle. It is a rough, hilly, mixed-surface run across coast and countryside, with the pilgrimage route providing its distinct character.
