About this race
The Holly Hustle begins in Meanwood, directing runners onto forest trails near Leeds. This is a trail race, not a road race, featuring narrow paths, technical terrain, steep climbs, and downhill sections allowing for increased speed. The ground is frequently muddy during this season, making appropriate trail shoes more important than maintaining a clean appearance.
The course incorporates Meanwood Park, The Hollies, and the Meanwood Valley Trail, passing landmarks such as the Seven Arches viaduct and Adel Crag. The Hollies contributes woodland paths and diverse flora to the route, while the valley trail provides the race with its predominantly off-road character. Headphones are not permitted as participants must be able to hear marshals and fellow runners on confined sections. A brief, marshalled private-road segment requires runners to use the pavement.
