About this race

From the coast at Hornsea, this is a trail run, not a polished road event: out, back, and no pretending the weather will always behave. “We all love to be beside the seaside” fits the mood here, with the Trans Pennine Trail providing the path and the wider Grim Up North character leaning into Yorkshire trails, from the Yorkshire Dales to the North York Moors. The route is flat and on good trail, signed and marshalled, with feed and drink stations coming regularly enough that you can settle into a rhythm. Expect trail runners who are happy with an off-road course, a few practical quirks like bringing your own cup, and the best finish-line idea in the notes: “grab yourself fish and chips and an ice cream” from the front after the race. It is basically “A day out at the seaside,” with running shoes on first.
