About this race
The Jurassic Coast Challenge requires participants to complete a marathon daily for three days along the Dorset section of the Jurassic Coast. This event accommodates running, jogging, or walking, with staggered start times each day to allow participants to proceed at their preferred pace. The established format consists of three consecutive marathon-length days, designed to be challenging yet achievable for a wide range of participants. The event headquarters is located at the Masonic Lodge in Portland, serving as the finish point for day one and the central hub for briefings, meals, massage services, the event shop, parking, and transportation connections.
The routes are self-guided along the clearly marked coastal footpath. Day one spans 45.3 km from Charmouth to Portland. Day two covers 42 km from Portland Ferry Road to Lulworth Cove, and day three extends 43.6 km from Lulworth Cove to Shell Bay. Registration provides a Geo Tracks GPS tracker, sustenance and hydration on the course daily, medical support, on-course assistance, a minibus retrieval option for those withdrawing, transportation between HQ and daily start or finish points, a branded T-shirt, and a custom finisher medal. Epic Endurance Events CIC is the organiser, and the event structure is evidently designed for varied abilities, with runners, joggers, walkers, and individuals approaching the challenge uniquely sharing the same coastline throughout the three days.
