Lakeland Trails at Leighton Hall begins the Lakeland Trails season in March at Leighton Hall, near Carnforth, offering 10k and half-marathon distances. The 10k follows a trail run through farmland and reedbeds, finishing with a quick stretch in front of the hall. The half-marathon extends into the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Natural Beauty, featuring separate Challenge and Race formats. The Challenge is for participants aiming to enjoy the route without competing for prizes, while the Race caters to those focused on speed and podium positions.
The routes traverse Leighton Hall’s woods and parkland before reaching the crags, bay views, and open terrain around Silverdale’s National Landscape. Participants on the longer course can view the River Kent estuary and look towards the Lake District. The 10k has a two-hour time limit and is open to runners aged 16 and over. The half-marathon options are for runners aged 18 and over, with a four-hour limit for the Challenge and a three-hour limit for the Race. The event village includes food and coffee stalls; dogs are not permitted at this event.
