About this race
The Maverick Jurassic Coast X-Trail Run takes participants across the Isle of Purbeck and the Dorset coast, offering five trail distances up to 100km. The 50km race begins near Corfe Castle village, covering slightly over 53km with approximately 1,136 meters of ascent and descent, a 9-hour time limit, and no aid stations. The 100km race starts at Hardy Monument, with the longest option commencing inland before merging with the coastal terrain that defines the remainder of the event.
The 100km route crosses the South Dorset Ridgeway to Osmington, then follows the South West Coast Path, passing Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove before connecting with the Ultra route from Corfe. The 50km course crosses marshland towards the coast, while the Ultra and Half Marathon routes go by Old Harry's Rocks. The Ultra also passes Winspit Quarry, reaches the steps at St. Aldhelm's Head, utilizes the Hardy Way, and descends across Knowle Hill with Corfe Castle visible again near the finish. Maverick Race considers this its home territory, and the event is part of the X-Trail Challenge and National League, with options suitable for both novice trail runners and seasoned off-road racers.
