The Minehead Sprint Triathlon begins with a 750m open-water sea swim in the bay below North Hill. Athletes then proceed to a bike leg towards Porlock, followed by a 5km run returning to the beach. Channel Events organizes this coastal sprint triathlon, intending it as a late-season event in the British Triathlon calendar. The race was formerly organized by Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership before Channel Events took over following a year when the event was not held.
The current course presents more challenges and variety than the previous iteration, which featured a 400m pool swim, a 20km bike route, and a flat seafront run. The cycling portion is a swift, rolling out-and-back route on roads adjacent to the high moorland of Exmoor National Park. The run combines a paved promenade with off-road trails through Culver Cliff woods, incorporating the "Cheeky Climb" Strava segment before concluding at the beach. Participants have the option to forgo the medal and t-shirt, or purchase them as add-ons; relay teams require a pack for each participant.
