About this race
The Morson Salford Triathlon & Aquabike is a Sunday-morning multisport event in Greater Manchester. Participants swim in Dock 9 at Salford Quays and race around MediaCityUK, bypassing the countryside. Registration takes place at The Open Centre on Broadway. The event offers standard and sprint triathlons, a standard-distance relay for two or three people, and standard and sprint aquabike races for those preferring the swim-bike format without the run. Racing commences with standard swim waves from 08:00, followed by sprint and aquabike waves later in the morning. Competitors aged 16 to 99 are accepted.
The standard triathlon comprises a 1.5km swim, 41.6km bike, and 10.4km run. The sprint distance is 750m, 20.8km, and 5.2km respectively. The bike leg is draft-legal, flat, and multi-lap, utilizing anti-clockwise loops on quiet open roads around MediaCityUK, Salford, and Trafford. Standard racers complete six laps, while sprint racers complete three. The run route passes local landmarks such as The Lowry and Imperial War Museum North. Swim caps and race numbers are provided at registration. Wetsuits are optional, and cyclists must adhere to the highway code on the open-road bike course.
