MTC BALOR 2027

MON, May 17, 2027 · Ireland , United Kingdom

About this race

MTC Balor is a May endurance race around Dunfanaghy in County Donegal, with formats that include the Mount to Coast Balor 47-mile ultra and the Balor Multisport Race. The multisport version sends solo racers or teams of two to three through six marked stages of running, road cycling, and flat-water kayaking. The full multisport loop is 225km: 47km on foot over varied ground, 167km by bike, and 11km by kayak. The route uses some of Donegal’s big landmarks, including the Poison Glen, Errigal Mountain, Mulroy Bay, Atlantic Drive, and the Muckish Railway. Crews meet competitors at two transition areas, where racers can refuel, restock supplies, and deal with equipment needs. The sharp end finishes in about 11 hours, while the overall cut-off is 22 hours. The 47-mile ultra also sits as Day 11 of MizMal, a thirteen-day end-to-end challenge across Ireland.
