About this race
The Nidderdale Way Trail Race & Ultra follows the 55-mile Nidderdale Way in Yorkshire, with race options that range from a half marathon to a full 55-mile ultramarathon. The event sits under the Nidderdale Way Challenge Weekend and gives runners four choices: Half Marathon, 20 Mile Trail Race, 28 Mile Ultramarathon, and 55 Mile Ultramarathon. The longest race is 89.20 km, run solo, with 2,220 metres of climb, 2,220 metres of descent, seven aid stations, and an 18-hour time limit.
The route uses the Nidderdale Way rather than a short lap format, so the full ultra sends runners around a long Yorkshire trail circuit with plenty of time on open ground. Ripley Castle, Brimham Rocks, Scar House Reservoir, and How Stean Gorge are named points on the course. The 55-mile race is capped at 300 participants and carries ITRA Mountain Level 3 and Finisher Level 10 ratings, with National League status. The shorter distances make the weekend workable for newer trail runners, while the 28-mile and 55-mile options suit runners aiming for a first ultra or a harder long-distance day.
