Pierrepont Plod - Spring 2027

The Pierrepont Plod - Spring is a six-hour trail race held in March at Holme Pierrepont Country Park and Watersports Centre. Participants run a loop of approximately 5.45 km, deciding their own goal: complete a single lap or run for the entire six hours to accumulate as many laps as possible. The course features a section alongside the rowing lake. Organisers advise runners to anticipate mud, roots, and puddles, as it is not a simple road loop. Holme Pierrepont frequently floods during wetter periods, leading to two potential loops: one beginning on the north side of the lake near the cafe, and another from a southern car park. The southern route is generally favoured, with the final decision confirmed a few weeks prior to the event. Both loop options are relatively flat, offering 22m or 27m of elevation gain. The event embraces its waterside location with a recurring joke about a kraken in the lake seizing runners and consuming canoes.
