Quayside 5k & 10k August 2026

The Quayside 5k & 10k August series comprises short road races on the Newcastle-Gateshead Quayside. The 5k, a fast, flat run, attracts club runners and elite athletes aiming for quick times, as well as amateurs seeking a straightforward challenge. The accompanying Junior Quayside 3k adds a youth-racing component, with U13, U15, and U17 athletes competing in distinct age categories. The 5k course follows the Quayside, featuring the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and Tyne Bridge. Both the 5k and Junior 3k hold official World Athletics status, enhancing the event's standing beyond the local race calendar. The junior race also functions as the NECAA 3k Road Race Championship, offering medals for the top three boys and girls in each age group, North East Champion titles for victors, and the John Stephenson BEM Trophy for the overall winner, honoring the Gateshead Harriers master coach.
