About this race
Race for Life Stockport is a charity 5K in Woodbank Memorial Park in Stockport, Greater Manchester, with an 11:00am start from the SK1 4JR area. There is also a 3K option starting at the same time, so it suits people who want a shorter distance as well as those aiming for the full 5K. Like other Race for Life events, it raises money for cancer research, and participants can link their run to fundraising through GoFundMe.
The route starts and finishes on grass, with those sections generally quite flat, but the rest of the course mixes grass, track, and tarmac paths. Ground conditions can change, and the route includes both downhill slopes and uphill gradients, so it is not just a flat park loop. The event is organised by Sarah Hunter and is built around charity runners, supporters, and people taking part for personal reasons rather than only chasing race times.
