Short Tour of Bradwell

The Short Tour of Bradwell is a 4-mile evening race starting at 7:00pm from the Sports Pavilion in Bradwell, Derbyshire. This Peak District race has a sharp profile, with runners climbing 276 metres (906 feet) in just four miles. The route begins in the village, not a large race center, giving it a local and hill-focused appeal. Results from past editions are available, and runners may use the event to raise funds for charity via GoFundMe.

Race For Life Milton Keynes

Race For Life Milton Keynes is a fundraising run held at Willen Lake in Milton Keynes. The event offers both a 5K and a 10K distance. The 10K begins in the morning, followed by the 5K later in the day. As part of Cancer Research UK's Race For Life series, the event focuses on raising funds for cancer research alongside completing the chosen distance. The course follows the pathways around Willen Lake, primarily on tarmac with sections of grass, including at the start and finish lines. Participants have the option to set up fundraising pages via GoFundMe. This event is suited for individuals seeking a local, shorter challenge with a distinct charitable aim, rather than a competitive club race.

About cycling & running in Slough

Slough Training Notes

Running: Slough gives runners a compact, flat urban base. Upton Court park sits in the south east corner and carries the local rhythm. Locals use Upton Court parkrun for steady Z2 laps, sharper intervals, and an easy Saturday check-in. The course runs two laps, with the first lap around 2.7km and the second around 2.3km. GoodGym Slough meets every Monday from Salt Hill Activity Centre. The group might run to plant trees for the local park, sort cans for the food bank, then run back with intervals. Wind in the Pillows Marathons & Half marathon anchors the longer stuff.

Cycling: Slough suits riders who want base miles without making a drama of the route. Locals use the redways and cycle routes because virtually the whole borough sits within a 20 minute ride of the town centre. Slough Cycling Club formed in 2020 and works well for beginner to intermediate road cyclists. Riders joining Sunday Club rides need to handle at least 40 miles, or 65 km, at around 14 mph, or 22.5 km/h. Sunday Club rides leave at 08:30 and run no-drop. The climbs stay modest because Slough is compact and flat. Short Tour of Bradwell gives the calendar a sharper anchor.

Season: June, July, and August feel like the cleanest race block. Race For Life Milton Keynes lands on 2026-06-07, the East Midlands Grand Prix Milton Keynes 10K and EMGP Milton Keynes 10km Race land on 2026-06-30, and the World Cup 60th Anniversary Marathons & Half Marathons land on 2026-07-04. The Wind in the Pillows Marathons & Half marathon lands on 2026-08-02, so locals can stack base miles into summer without forcing it. Winter shifts the feel toward steadier runs and sensible riding. The Fireworks 5km lands on 2026-11-08, and Enigma Week At the Knees 2027 lands on 2027-03-08.
