About this race

Struggle Moors, also run as Struggle NYM, is a challenging road cycling sportive in North Yorkshire. It is designed for riders seeking a long day of climbs, not a leisurely charity ride. The event begins at locations closely connected to the North York Moors, such as Ampleforth Abbey and Sutton Bank National Park Centre, directing participants into the moorland's hilly terrain. The standard route covers approximately 189km, with alternative options including a 130km introductory ride and a 250km Ultra for those pursuing an extended single-day challenge. The course focuses on the climbs within the North York Moors. Rosedale Chimney and Caper Hill, known locally as Glaisdale Horror, are featured ascents. Blakey Bank and Danby Beacon contribute further steep sections and high moorland riding. The Ultra route incorporates 10 significant Yorkshire climbs, while the signature distance features seven. Many participants use this event as a follow-up to Struggle:Ten in the Yorkshire Dales, maintaining their training for another demanding Yorkshire sportive six weeks later. Cycling Plus recognized it as a top sportive event in the UK, and Cycling Weekly described it as a premier day out and an aspirational goal.
