About this race
Petersham & Ham Sea Scouts HQ at Douglas House Meadow serves as the starting point for this riverside out-and-back race. The route soon establishes itself on the Thames Path towpath. The Thames Meander Summer Race Series is the type of event where consistent pacing is key: it's flat, straightforward, and described as “very fast, flat on a runnable route,” avoiding intricate or technical sections.
You will run alongside the river towards Kew Gardens Car Park or continue to the Barnes turnaround, located opposite Barnes Sports Club. The return journey follows the same path back to the start. This is a trail run on a public path, so anticipate sharing it with other users. However, the course is noted as “well marked and marshalled all the way along.” Checkpoints will provide gels, drinks, electrolyte powders, and “a selection of high energy foods” to support your progress.
