The Great West Walk 2026

The Great West Walk 2026 will take place on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The event starts and finishes at St James Park, Exeter. Registration opens at 8:00 am, and the walk begins at 9:00 am, with participants expected to finish by 4:00 pm. This is a guided walking challenge along Exeter's Green Circle route, designed to be an inclusive community event that encourages exploration of the city, enjoyment of the outdoors, and support for wellbeing. The event is suitable for all abilities, from experienced walkers to those seeking a new challenge. Participants will be assigned to guided walking groups led by trained staff and volunteers, with different pace groups available. Group leaders will provide support throughout the route. Groups will stop for approximately 15 minutes at each checkpoint. Alternative routes and detours will be provided for sections that may present accessibility challenges. The event is supported by local organizations and community partners focused on improving health, wellbeing, and access to nature in Exeter. The entry fee is £10, with a minimum fundraising target of £35. Funds raised will support wellbeing initiatives and community projects in Exeter, promoting activity, connection, and health.
