About this race

From Parsley Hay toward the Ashbourne end of the Tissington Trail, this is a "breathtaking half marathon" on the bed of an old railway line, with "huge views of the Derbyshire Dales" providing much of the scenery. The Tissington Trail Half Marathon Weekend offers a simple trail race atmosphere: transport to the start, gravel underfoot, and a traffic-free path that allows for a steady rhythm without road noise. The route trends downhill for most of its length, presenting "PB potential," yet it remains trail running with uneven stony ground, potholes, tree roots, slippery sections, and narrow paths shared with cyclists, walkers, and horse-riders. It is suitable for those new to the half marathon distance as well as runners seeking a fast time. Toilets are available at Tissington, Hartington, and Parsley Hay, with the finish located near Ashbourne Bike Hire. A notable detail to remember before you prepare: only bone conducting headphones are allowed.
